30 million units of iPhone XR won't be supplied in the first quarter of 2019. 70 million is still a big number and I'm sure we will see an increase in sales by the end of this year.

Well, there are consumers on both sides of the divide who (for instance) would regard the iPhone XR as being cheap or expensive. I am just wondering what would prompt Apple to stop reporting unit sales for some of its devices?

I would say money is the reason. I'm not even sure if what they are doing is alright because the company can pay less tax if they don't have a proper report. I won't go any further because I don't know much about corporate taxes.
