Cost always comes first when thinking of making any purchase and to some extent I agree with this list. Nonetheless, I wouldn't go for a new phone if the current one was functioning well.

I find the criteria they used to rank these phones a bit odd. It seems like the look and design of the phone factored into it a great deal, even though it's highly subjective.

I think many consumers actually do care about the phone's aesthetics so I can understand why it was included in their analysis. For some people the phone you carry is a status symbol.

If one cares for the look, I'd say the iPhones are not very special because they have a similar design before the home button is removed. I find the iPhone 7 and 8 best balance the design and important functions a user may ever need.

Phones are pretty much identical these days, the only difference is screen size, battery life and color. One may have some cool gimmick incorporated, but the core function of the phone is identical to all others.

I agree with you to some extent. Nonetheless, the iPhone experience is quite different from the rest and this makes sense if you've owned an Android phone before. I doubt if I would ever ditch the iPhone for another phone brand!
