Wired has reviewed the JBL Link View which appeared to bring some fierce competition to the already crowded playing field. It's powered by Google and seems promising.

Everything else works for me, except for the lack of portability caused by the lack of a battery. The fact that companies are working to outdo each other could mean better quality and/or reduced prices, in future.
