Both Uber's and Tesla's driverless cars have killed a person, with Uber's offense being the most egregious. Driverless cars have crashed a few times, resulting in community and commercial property damage. Are driverless cars really the wave of the future?

To me, driverless cars are one of those things that sound super cool in theory but fail miserably in practice. It's unfortunate that testing them is so dangerous and some people have lost their lives.

To me, it just seems like a huge liability for the companies that are creating and testing the technology. Is the possible ROI really worth it?

Driverless cars will only work if every other car is driverless as well, and they communicate with one another on a network. Sticking a driverless car on a road filled with human drivers is asking for disaster.
