It may be impossible to remove all your information from online sources, and so most people opt to share very little of their details. Either way, make your data less easy to access is better than no effort to safeguard it.

It's a bummer that some require a phone number to call and verify that you really want it removed. Still, I'm glad to remove myself from Whitepages as it still lists my college apartment.

It's an inconvenience and I wonder if that's why the requirement was put into place - to discourage users from deleting their information. You can always use a disposable phone number if you're worried about it.

I am probably one of the very few people who has no problem with my personal data being out there. I never give super personal or sensitive information like my social security number, and I don't see a problem with my data being out there.

For some reason it makes me feel uneasy. I haven't shared anything about myself online that would even matter, but all this data tracking makes me feel like someone is constantly looking over my shoulder. And they're probably very bored.
