Google is buying Fitbit to “spur innovation in wearables and build products to benefit even more people around the world.” The former will (most likely) turn around the fortunes for the latter, whose position in the wearables has weakened over the past few years.

I'm not too thrilled about this. Google wants a monopoly on the entire planet and I don't think that's the greatest idea, to say the least.

Google has the financial muscle to do almost everything on this planet. Despite this, it is upon the regulators to scrutinize every detail and make a sound decision. Whether or not Fitbit's fortunes will change will depend on several factors.
