I just had to follow the steps and delay the scheduled update just as a matter of precaution. If I got to lose some files, I wouldn't even think of attributing this to the update. Would a malware attack cause this?

I am completely unaware of these errors. I have my Windows set for automatic updates, so they are automatically downloaded and installed when I turn off the computer. I don't think I lost any data so far. It doesn't sound like a malware issue;... See more

I have have the automatic updates on but the thought of having my files deleted prompted me to delay this a bit. It seems there is nothing much to worry about since Microsoft claims to be aware, with investigations going on.
