In this era, anything without the word 'smart' next to its name feels outdated. Everything has to be sophisticated to the point where its real purpose becomes unclear. I can see the benefit of the health apps that take your pulse while you're jogging. Other than that though, I don't think they do anything that a good smart phone can't do.
