I've always purchased the AppleCare+ extended warranty. In my mind, it makes sense to protect an expensive device, especially since I use my Apple branded laptop, tablet, and phone for work. I've never had problems using the warranty.

Warranty is tricky since you never know when you'll need one. I've never signed up for it, and I'm lucky that so far I don't need it. As Apple gadgets and software become increasingly incompatible with third-party services, I probably should... See more

I agree that at times, taking extended warranties for devices isn't worth it at all. I would go for the option of getting an additional year of warranty coverage and covering two accidental damage fixes.
