I don't use Foursquare, but apparently it has a new feature called hypertrending which shows the popularity of a place through a heat-seeking map. Creepy or no?

The company is testing the waters, so as to see whether this new feature will appeal to a high number of people. Location data is very sensitive yet a lot of people allow access to third party apps, without their knowledge.

If you had asked me this question, say, 5 years ago I would have said yes - it's creepy. Nowadays, location data is pretty commonplace. My phone is always bugging me to turn on location services to "serve me better" with some app. The data... See more
