From this list, all I have been able to do well is use strong passwords. Would anyone still be using Windows XP in 2019? It is easy to forget the small tasks like clearing junk files and removing unnecessary files from the hard drive.

I am a terrible computer owner because I do all of these. I do updates but I usually delay them for a few weeks. I will bookmark this and take a few hours to go through my computer soon to delete some junk off of it.

Same here. It takes me ages to remember something as easy as clearing junk files. Thank you for this link, it will be easy to bookmark and use it as a reference, in future.

I appreciate the writer's humor in that opening line. I disagree about the need to defrag. I think most modern computers take care of their own defragging so that's not something we need to worry about.

I agree that bit was weird. Then again, maybe they're thinking about computers running XP since the defragger on that OS wasn't great. However, no one should be using Windows XP anyway.

From that list, my only sin is not physically cleaning my desktop and laptop often enough. Cat hair tends to get in the fans and I should clean them out more often.

I'm not the best about backing up my computer in a timely manner. I feel you on the cat hair. I don't even know how it gets inside the fans in the first place.

Backing up my hard drive feels so tedious at times. I've tried setting it up so that it syncs to my Amazon Drive account every three days, but it really slows things down so I tend to abort it.

Backing up to an external hard drive can be tedious, and I also find myself aborting this process. Has anyone of you used a backup software tool before? Someone spoke highly of 'Cobian Backup'.
