I doubt the focus was on specific commercial consumers. It's more about bragging rights - to say you were the first, to garner free press, and to show what you can do.

There are some buyers who will look at it as an investment. With that much RAM they're unlikely to need another upgrade for a long while. Sometimes paying a little more at the start can save you money in the long run.
