It would be expensive for Google (and any other tech company) to store user's data for a long time. All the same, the issue of invasion of privacy is going to be a hot topic in the months to come. Do you trust Congress to get to the bottom of this matter?

If the lawmakers really cared, they'd enact laws to protect our privacy rights. This whole thing just felt like a song and dance to me.

The move by Congress is timely but seems to be more of a reaction rather than a deliberate effort to protect and safeguard the interests of the online community. We need tougher laws in this regard.
