A $200 million investment is a bold move from Apple, and it seems like there is more to expect from Apple TV. Will this move pay off in the long run?

Such a bold move from Apple and so the likes of Netflix and Showmax should be wary of the new entrant. It will be interesting to see how everything else changes in the next few years.

I bet such statement will surely catch some attention. It’s reasonable if more people switch to Apple TV. Plus, people are familiar with the brand so it’s already an advantage for Apple to kick off.

That's true and Apple's biggest fans tend to be intensely loyal to the brand. I'm sure they'll gain plenty of viewers through their promo where you get a free year of the service after buying a qualifying Apple device.

I've never known a single person who used Apple TV or even seen one of the device in real life haha. Perhaps the acquisition of a beloved series will help them get more customers.

You don't need the device to watch Apple TV+. Or at least I don't think you do. You can watch on a tablet or computer through the app.

It may be incorrect to underestimate Apple TV's popularity (it is the fifth most popular streaming player). All the same, there's some work to do, if it is to rival the likes of Netflix, that have a huge variety of content.

Same here, and I think the company is not leaving anything to chance here. Either way, the acquisition of a beloved series could draw more people to it.
