I didn't anticipate that my VPN would really protect me from government surveillance. I don't even know that it should, but that's a different conversation. I think you have to pay a lot of money to get a VPN that's really good.

Well, quite an eye-opener but my thinking is that most people use VPNs to circumvent certain restrictions that may exist, in their countries. I haven't found any good VPNs that are free so either way, a user has to be prepared to part with some... See more

I hardly use a VPN when browsing and even if I was doing so, nothing about the government monitoring my activity would worry me. Either way, the best VPNs cost some money; most of the free ones don't really do much.
