And, of course, more likes and followers usually translates into more sponsorships and free merch. I'd like to know what the ROI is on that for the influencers.

I'd like to know what the ROI is for the companies that pay them. I don't think Instagram cares to make any changes though. Not unless it will earn the platform more money.

I've read a lot about this practice. I don't believe for a second that Instagram is trying to get rid of the fake activity because they stand to profit a lot from it!
