I always turn off my router for no other reason other than it being the logical thing to do. It is good to know that there is a security benefit in doing this, despite it shortening a network device's working life.

Mine is never turned off unless needed. Sometimes it needs to be restarted. I never even considered turning it off. Set it and forget it is my motto!

How fast does your router boot after restarting? My router's speeds improved once I started switching it off when not in use. There are pros and cons to both methods, so it depends on which one a person prefers.

It is risky to leave your router on when it is not in use because hackers could easily access your network. The more you do this, the faster it takes when being restarted. There are cons to this, but I believe that the pros outdo them.

Like the article says, this is often a debatable issue. The router is always on, only when in use. Hackers will often attempt to target devices that are on. It is appalling that firewalls even fail at times!

Honestly, I never turned it off. I guess there’s the security concern but... I just never feel like turning on and off all the time. It’s a hassle. Plus, when you turn it off and turn on again, it doesn’t always work immediately.

From experience, the router becomes slow when it is left on for a long time. There are pros and cons, whichever method you go with, so it is everyone's choice to make.
