Privacy is slowly becoming an elusive subject, with more and more apps gathering data (at times) without users' consent. Would you opt for an app that enables you to share your location, speed and battery life, among other things? It should never enter public use.

The fact that Instagram declined to comment points to the fishy nature of the Threads app. Facebook often opts for a controversial approach, and apart from the privacy concerns, the social media giant should clearly state what it intends to gain... See more

Why is Facebook so fascinated with gathering people's personal information? All the Threads app will require is your consent. Is there a guarantee that third-party apps will not access our personal information? I doubt if privacy exists online... See more

It always seems like the companies that breach privacy the most and gather personal data, make a lot of revenue. If the Cambridge Analytica scandal hadn't come to the fore, more privacy breaches could have probably happened.

It's like we forfeit any rights to our privacy by merely existing online. The Threads app is both controversial and unrealistic. It is a bold move from a company that has had bad publicity in the past with issues around privacy.

Privacy is already a foregone idea. Each time you go online, some company somewhere is storing your data and probably selling it to third parties. I also don't think the Threads app will see the light of day.

Privacy online has sadly become a joke. I wonder how they're gathering their data because some of the "targeted ads" sent to me are ridiculous. Facebook seems to think I am a doctor, therapist, writer and pilot...just to name a few!

It is no longer a matter of whether or not online exists. Nowadays, it is about how much of our data these companies gather and probably share with third-party apps. Online companies use specific algorithms to 'spy' on users.

It is no longer practical to talk about online privacy anymore. Most of the apps that we interact with now gather a certain percentage of our data. I don't imagine how this app can be a reality in this age of privacy-consciousness!
