Technics has unveiled a new upgrade to the direct drive deck, the Technics SL-1500C record player with built-in phono amplifier. The Technics SL-1500C is a more traditional turntable, with its simpler design promising great sound at more affordable price than previous offerings from the company.
With many design features from previous generations Technics, the Technics SL-1500C includes a Phono EQ, an integrated MM phono amp for easy connectivity to any amplifier or music system with standard RCA inputs. The turntable also comes with an Ortofon 2M Red cartridge.
The Technics SL-1500C uses the familiar single-rotor, coreless direct drive motor in which the stator has no core and offer smooth rotation with no irregularity called cogging. In this motor, upgrades were made such that the magnetic force of the rotor magnets was improved and the gap between the coreless stator and rotor magnets was optimised. Furthermore, the motor control had been optimised for the platter weight to ensure long lasting accurate performance.
In addition, the Technics SL-1500C has a built-in phono amp compatible with MM cartridges. The dedicated power supply for the phono equalizer is isolated from the power supply for the motor and control circuitry, to help reduce noise. When the aluminium S-shape tonearm reaches the end of a record, the auto-lifter automatically raises the tonearm. This minimises wear and tear on the vinyl records and stylus. It is available in silver and matte black.
