I recently purchased an e-reader and I don't regret my decision one bit. I like having a separate device just for reading books. I've never been a big fan of all-in-one devices. It takes some of the fun out of things for me!

Thanks for sharing these deals. $78 for a tablet is a steal, although 7" is a bit too small for my liking. It might make a good present for the little ones.

Is that tall thing on the left side of your desk a lamp? Also, where did you get the background pictures on your PC from?

Heh, Apple being described as an "underdog" is definitely something I didn't think I'd ever see! It's amazing how much things change over time. Are there any people left standing in those long lines to purchase the newest iPhone?
GregP
Mine is never turned off unless needed. Sometimes it needs to be restarted.  I never even considered turning it off. Set it and forget it is my motto!

Privacy online has sadly become a joke. I wonder how they're gathering their data because some of the "targeted ads" sent to me are ridiculous. Facebook seems to think I am a doctor, therapist, writer and pilot...just to name a few!
GregP
The service as described in that article doesn't sound appealing in the slightest. Maybe it's just me? I wouldn't pay $5 for that service nor would I even sign up to get it for free.

Beautiful! What an amazing setup. It puts mine to shame. You're right - it does seem like a very relaxing and comfortable place to be. I'm jealous of whoever gets to spend time here!

Honestly, I never knew who blew the whistle about Cambridge Analytica, so thanks for sharing that information. The scandal caused everyone to take a second look at their online activities which is a great thing. Kudos to him for having the... See more

I really want them to work, but I fear you may be right. There are some challenges with the design that seem like they may be insurmountable. I love the idea though and I'm still looking forward to the day I can own one of these.

Good for Huawei. They're a smart company. I think they're going to pull it off and present a functional device. Samsung's mistake is now Huawei's win.

USB-C is the current industry standard. Apple is just being stubborn and greedy if they don't make the switch. Almost nobody wants to use the Lightning port. Of course they want to keep it because then it keeps people buying their special... See more

I can't stand the tangle of cords, but at this point, I'd still rather have wired than wireless. The batteries can never run out of a wired pair of headphones. There must also be some sort of loss in quality, no?
GregP
Wow, really nice. I definitely want one, though I suspect they'll be even more expensive than a Razer or Alienware machine - and that's really saying something!

Heh, I actually quite enjoy the act of vacuuming so I've never thought to get one of these. It would be convenient for dusting in hard to reach places like under the sofa or dresser.  I still find them to be too expensive.
GregP
Never heard of this brand, but those are some mighty speakers! I reckon these would jazz up any room and be a conversation starter. I just took a look at the price - be still, my heart.

Hmm, I've actually never used Apple Music or iTunes before, so the change doesn't affect me. I prefer to stream from services like Spotify or Google Play Music.

Very cool. I've been eyeing the Chromebook for what seems like an eternity now. This one looks nice as well, but 11" isn't a large enough screen for me. Still, really neat!

Thanks for sharing, it sounds like a great product. I'm a light sleeper and am often woken up by noise around me.  $250 is a bit much, but a good night's sleep is priceless.
GregP
I'm always on the hunt for a great pair of noise cancelling headphones. $500 is out of my budget though. It's unfortunate that you have to spend so much money to get a product that actually works well.

The market for digital cameras has changed. They are geared more towards people who take professional photos. The days of everyone having a digital camera are gone. Camera phones work well enough for casual use so most people don't bother... See more

There are devices that essentially operate as a universal smart home remote control such as the Xiaomi Cube. I think as smart home technology evolves, there are going to be two very specific camps - an open ended design and an all-in-one... See more

That doesn't sound very unethical to me. I wouldn't feel as if I'd done something wrong just because I used the options presented within their own website.

These look great. I've been considering getting a Chromebook for quite some time now. They're extremely affordable and sound very practical. Having your data stored on the cloud instead of the machine itself is ingenious. I'm not really in the... See more

I do think Facebook's days are numbered, but it's going to be awhile yet before their downfall. There has been a tremendous amount of bad press and we still all flock to Facebook (I do it too) out of convenience.

Thanks for sharing, TimmyZ. I'm really interested in seeing how this whole saga plays out. I feel the US is trying to sabotage Huawei's efforts and I hope they aren't successful.

I only like using Microsoft browsers when I'm doing bug testing for websites. That should say something right there. It just doesn't even come close to being as good the other big browsers.

I'm surprised to read that people trust online reviews as much as a recommendation from a friend. Unfortunately, you just can't trust them any longer. Not even the "Verified Purchase" reviews on Amazon are guaranteed to be legit.

I agree with you guys. I never answer calls that say private or restricted number. I can't say I would go through all this trouble of playing detective and finding out who called.

If you had asked me this question, say, 5 years ago I would have said yes - it's creepy. Nowadays, location data is pretty commonplace. My phone is always bugging me to turn on location services to "serve me better" with some app. The data... See more

I quite like the look of these. I don't believe they'll be replacing smartphones anytime soon, but it would be a nice little gadget to have. I'm a big guy so the size isn't a drawback for me.

The ability of a piece of technology to be upgraded and repaired is so important as it helps combat the problem we have with electronic waste. The TV is truly beautiful as well.
GregP
I have a Surface and I love it so this computer looks rather interesting to me. Gigabit Wi-Fi also sounds amazing. I'm not really in the market for a computer upgrade but I'm tempted after reading this review.

Gesture controls to date have been pretty buggy so hopefully they work out the kinks before release. It sounds pretty interesting. I'm excited to see how AR is going to be developed.

A watch that pricks you with needles? Yikes! No thanks. I wouldn't trust my watch to perform such an important task. Some things are better with a human touch.
GregP
This is the downside of the gig economy. Until there are proper regulations and legislation in place, this kind of thing will continue to happen. It's almost forgotten how hard workers had to fight for fair working conditions and laws.

This appeals to me as an introvert. The thought of going out to the gym and working out in a large group of people makes me shudder. Bringing the live class into my home is perfect.
