I don't think most people will be concerned either way.  Consumers have access to numerous places to store their photos in the cloud.  Plus, there are several websites that offer gorgeous photos for free that can be used for any purpose.

I noticed that Apple has already released a supplemental update.  I wonder if they pushed out Catalina too soon without enough testing as reports suggest it's pretty buggy.

I appreciate the writer's humor in that opening line.  I disagree about the need to defrag.  I think most modern computers take care of their own defragging so that's not something we need to worry about.

If you think your eyes should have to be open in order for the unlocking mechanism to work, then Apple's Face ID is better since it meets that requirement.  Google's Face Unlock does not.

I think Amazon pushes out so many smart products because it wants to be the first X on the market and in your home.  Once they're in, they seem to have customer loyalty.  It seems like a decent strategy.

I'd go for the 13-inch Microsoft Surface mostly because it's compatible with my job and it's $100 cheaper than the MacBook Air.  I wish it included a Thunderbolt 3 port though.

I don't mind that these earbuds don't actively cancel out noise.  These are something I'd wear to the gym or out running and it's safer to be able to hear in those situations.

It's a bummer that some require a phone number to call and verify that you really want it removed.  Still, I'm glad to remove myself from Whitepages as it still lists my college apartment.
SilentCrescendo
It's an inconvenience and  I wonder if that's why the requirement  was put into place - to discourage users from deleting their information. You can always use a disposable phone number if you're worried about it.

That's me too, GregP.  I really want them to work, but it simply might not be possible.  Maybe in a couple years time the technology will be there.

Uh, in time for the holidays in 2020 is hardly a release date.  I was expecting something more concrete.  Like letting us know that it will be released on Black Friday or even saying that it will be released in November would work.

I'm sure they'll be more  specific when it gets closer to the time.  At least they're letting us know to start saving up now.  Some parents start buying their kids' presents very early on.  I imagine it would be rough to find out the latest... See more

Oh wow, I hadn't heard about this before now.   The article states that Sprint is suing AT&T and I bet the company will face some class action lawsuits over this too.

I prefer to buy my games outright.  However, since Goolge is only charging $2 per month for the first year, parting with $24 for access to that many games is a no-brainer for me.

LG has made a risky choice, right?  I mean, the average person isn't going to pay this much for a television, no matter how nice it is.  And the big spender isn't going to buy an LG, no matter how fancy it is.  It's not known as a high-end... See more

I'm pretty disappointed in Apple's offerings this year.  It's a shame that the iPhone is still not compatible with the Apple Pencil.  I'm holding off on buying a new phone for now.

I'm a klutz and drop my laptop all the time, so I could really use something like this.  I love modular gear.  It's nice to be able to customize things to suit your needs.

I love that Anker solar charger.  It works quickly and is easy to pack away once everything is charged.  My only regret is that it doesn't have its own power bank.   It's still a great though.

That Bluetooth adapter sure does take me back.  I used to drive an old VW as a teen and rocked out to rap music thanks to that little piece of tech.  Good times!

I love e-books. It's so much more convenient to carry around a tablet or Kindle rather than carting a bunch of physical books around.

I have the older Bites model and will be buying this latest version of it.  I might also snag this latest Play.  I've been working a lot lately and my poor pup could use the extra entertainment before I get home and take him for a walk.

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for what about the devices that work with Siri?  They've been around for some time.  Would it be premature to add the latest Petcube toys which work with Alexa?  Would that count as home robotics?

I wonder how well evaporative air conditioners work.  I've thought about getting one myself.  I'm into the BioLite Firepit and am adding it to my wish list.  I believe it was on Kickstarter at one point.

Another Logitech keyboard fan here.    I'm amazed at how easy it is to use their Bluetooth keyboard with multiple devices.  It makes tasks go by super quick.

I agree.  I actually have that little lantern that's shown here and it works really well.  The light is brighter than I initially expected and it lasts for quite some time.

Personally, I'm digging that translator device.  @Codechaser The Goal Zero Yeti is a bit pricey, but it does what it says it'll do and it's a company that works towards sustainability which is rare in tech.

It looks like a nice laptop, but having tons of ports is more of a gimmick than anything else.  Adapters are a dime a dozen and often come with the device or cord anyway.

I'm pretty torn on this.  Lower prices are great since I know some families can't shell out a lot for consoles and games.  The smaller size helps make it even more portable than it was before.  However, it's a big negative that it can't be... See more

Kindle's are great for reading in bed to make you drowsy.  If I try it on my tablet or laptop, I'll inevitably find myself playing games, texting, or emailing. which keeps me awake.  But with a Kindle, I can read for a bit, then go right to... See more

That seems awfully pricey for a record player.  Then again, I've spent quite a bit upgrading  gaming rigs so I guess it just depends on what you like.

I'm a bit confused by the article...most tech companies aren't turning a profit? Does that mean they're in danger of "shutting the doors" so to speak?

It sounds to me like we're in another bubble that could pop at any moment like the dot-com bubble in the 1990s and the real estate bubble that lead to the economic decline in the early 2000s.  Scary stuff!

Electric scooters in general aren't for me, but I think renting makes sense because you won't be responsible for keeping it charged, at least that's what I've read about Byrd's rentals.  I'm assuming users are in a hurry or they'd just walk.  A... See more

It does sound like a nice television and I think a 65-inch TV is perfect for game day.  I don't mind that the audio likely needs an additional soundbar to make it great.  I've always added extra hardware to my entertainment setup.

I'm glad the games are reasonably priced.  I'm most looking forward to playing Ocean Rift and Creed.  I can't wait to see how they turn out.

It sounds like a fantastic benefit and something I'll use.  I like that the device records what's going on so you can determine whether it's something serious or just an exuberant pet playing with its toy.

Kids today have smartphones and tablets that they can use to play with virtual pets.  I think the new Tamagotchi will be a bust, especially with that small screen.

That's got to be one of the cheapest around and Samsung has a solid rep for making reliable fitness trackers.  I don't know that I'd want to give up having a gyroscope and GPS though.

I'm a runner and I find it hard to keep earbuds in my ear while I'm bouncing all over the place.   Maybe my ear holes are just larger than average.  I prefer the over-the-ear style of earbuds.

More gaming options are usually beneficial for consumers in terms of price and innovation, so another console maker could be great.  It looks like the company has an uncertain future since the Google Stadia was introduced though.

I don't plan on buying this laptop, but the fact that it heats up isn't a deal breaker for me.  In my experience it happens with all gaming computers to one degree or another.

Those prices seem very reasonable. Hopefully the trend continues. I don't think smartphones are worth $800+ out of the gate anymore. I understand the Fold being expensive due to the new technology and development time, but a normal device should... See more

I agree, especially when you consider that tech companies often treat early adopters like their personal beta testers.  Not to mention that every major company has lately been selling a different version of the same smartphone technology.
